WHY The Canine Cooperative?

Laurie is a retired certified nurse-midwife who became interested in dog training in 2019 when taking on a temporary work assignment and was housed in a hotel. The hotel was pet-friendly, so she brought her dog along. There was one entrance, narrow hallways, one elevator, and lots of other dogs coming in and out of the hotel. With all these changes, Laurie’s dog became reactive with other dogs and started growling, lunging, and air-snapping on the leash. It was incredibly stressful taking her dog in and out of the hotel, so Laurie reached out to a Karen Pryor Academy trainer for help. Training changed the quality of both her life and her dogs' tremendously. Based on this life-changing experience, Laurie’s goal is to help humans understand and teach their dogs how to stay calm in any situation.
